OF THE TREES PRESENTS:
CAMP ALDERWILD
Let me tell you a story about the weekend when my wildest visions for my work in this field came true. What began as a beautiful friendship between artist and (super)fan blossomed into one of the most epic, dream-fulfilling gigs I’ve had the honor of experiencing.
This Telluride weekend was truly something special. I had the pleasure of bringing my Environmental Advocacy Booth to OftheTrees (one of my favorite producers) weekend music festival, and leading a Music x Sustainability workshop!! I have SO much gratitude to Tyler, his team, and everyone who made Camp Alderwild happen. Sharing my vision for how live music can help usher in a cleaner, greener, and more just world was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career so far. I remember when I first discovered music festivals, seeing the workshops was always something I found to be really cool, and getting to teach one now on my life’s mission and passion was not only full circle but a LITERAL dream come true.
I'd like to take a moment to share with you all the impact we had, as well as express my deepest gratitude. I am INCREDIBLY proud to announce:
1️⃣ We raised $1,000 for the Colorado River, donated to The Nature Conservancy to support their work restoring endangered fish species. I did this by putting up for sale my entire inventory of the upcycled thrift flips and clothing reworks I had on deck, as well as hosting a fundraising auction on a VIP Alderwild jean jacket I made. (The donation part of my sales initially totaled $862, but I personally rounded it up to $1,000, going beyond my 50% pledge, to reflect my commitment to conservation.) On the day of donation, the org was offering a “double-your-impact” donation match, so in the end, we were able to get 2K allocated towards environmental protections!!!
2️⃣ We engaged 195 fans through our QR-code landing page, empowering them to sign petitions, submit public comments, and write their representatives on key environmental issues. Beyond numbers, it was inspiring to see youth, let alone music festival attendees, take time out of their weekend to learn how and why public policy matters.
3️⃣ And lastly: I ran a sign-up for fans who wanted to go the extra mile and join an online community, serving as a digital home for this growing music-sustainability movement. Seeing so many people volunteer their time and energy left me inspired, charged up, and ready to keep the energy flowing!
To be able to connect deeply with everyone who joined the workshop (despite rain and delays), stopped by the booth, or simply came by to vibe out in the mini (living room type beat) space I was able to curate, thank you. Seeing the OftheTrees community welcome this work, and even wearing my art throughout the weekend, was surreal and deeply affirming.
This was just the beginning. The energy, collaboration, and commitment I witnessed in Telluride filled my cup, and I can’t wait to keep building this movement.
(ALSO shoutout Planet Bluegrass for being the most epic organizers, I cannot WAIT to work with them again 🤩)
